The Sharing of Loss - The Power of One

A Tribute to a Good Friend after the Loss of His Father

A Tribute to a Good Friend after the Loss of His Father

"They live in your mind, the way they always lived inside you. You keep their light alive. If you remember them well enough, they can still guide you, like the shine of long-extinguished stars could guide ships in unfamiliar waters.” — Matt Haig

Indeed not a very clear image, but here is much more than an image at stake.

I captured this image a few hours ago from my home / office in Milnerton of my friend on his yacht ‘Jigsaw’ a nautical mile or so out in Table Bay almost reaching Bloubergstrand (at the time).

The significance of this photograph is in memory of his father who recently passed away and this is his way of finding solitude and space.

I am fortunate to see the same sea every day as it provides a calmness and space I care deeply in experiencing a special nature-connectedness, but to be right out there in the deep blue ocean is a privilege to behold.

He is following his ‘own compass’ with connecting to natural solitude with a touch of the gentle morning breeze on his face creating healing moments with self-reflection and introspection.

The Navy taught us a lot mate... The sea is our anchor, our solitude and the special feeling of connecting with one of the most powerful natural environments in our universe.

I salute your new life journey of redefining the Power of One.
