"The 'Artificial Intelligence and Existentialism’ enquiry and self-development journey manifests a renewed awareness of patience, presence and purpose - not just in learning more about the existential self, but also gaining a metacognitive understanding of our neuropsychological functioning that inevitably shapes behaviour choices - in any given moment or situation (in relation to self and others) - and that any of these choices can be changed if desired." — Vernon Chalmers
Artificial Intelligence and Existentialism Website Inspiration
Vernon Chalmers is the creator of the Artificial Intelligence and Existentialism website, which started as a personal journaling project and has evolved into an AI and Existentialism-sharing platform. The platform focuses on the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI), motivation, consciousness, existentialism, philosophy, psychology and the sense of self."
The original website was created during May 2021 as an online journaling project expressing (and sharing) my personal views, reflections and interpretations of various inter / intra personal motivational experiences with reference to Emotional Wellbeing, Psychology, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Sense of Self Reflection.
The Artificial Intelligence and Existentialism website project is beyond the original premise of my self- development and existential interests. Since registration the website gradually morphed into a convergence of AI, existentialism and sense of self reflection for providing a definite sense of being and purpose.
The aim of this convergence is the development of an informative platform for anyone curious about the world we life in according to AI-evolution, consciousness, philosophy, psychology and our current / future purpose as homo sapiens.
Artificial Intelligence and Existentialism Website Purpose
Becoming more phenomenologically self-aware to provided me with a more coherent understanding of consciousness and the conceptual paradox of the nothingness of being. The added value of a re-defined existential vision, perceptual conditioning and unbiased decision-making perspectives mirrors a definite advantage of authenticity, an existential awakening through sense of self and reflection with others.
Background and Evolution
Vernon Chalmers topics mentioned:
Existentialism:
Interest in Motivation and Psychology
Over the years I have studied / facilitated / researched the (Behaviouristic / Humanistic) motivational research theories of i.e. Herzberg, Maslow, McClelland, Skinner, Watson and Vroom. The psychoanalytical perspectives of i.e. Frankl, Fromm, Freud, Gunderson, Hare, Jung, Kernberg, Klein, Kohut, Miller and Rogers added substantial academic value to my curiosity.
Philosophical Inquiry
I approach existential philosophy through photography, blending practice with existential reflection. My portfolio focuses on awareness, perception, and authenticity, aligning creative expression with philosophical inquiry - influenced by Friedrich Nietzsche, Jean-Paul Sartre, Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Rollo May, Martin Heidegger and Søren Kierkegaard. The exploration of freedom, responsibility, and the search for meaning within the act of seeing provides meaning to paradoxical nothingness of being. Through my photography as both an artistic discipline and a philosophical journey my students are encourages to engage the world trough a lens transcending the presence of being, purpose and curiosity. Philosophy therefor becomes a lived experience, embodied through creativity and mindful observation.
